Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing required (BSN preferred).
• Current registered nurse’s license in the State of Texas required.
• ACLS certification within three (3) months of hire.
• NIHSS certification within six (6) months of hire.
• TNCC/TCAR within six (6) months of hire.
• Cross training to like areas.
• Willingness to be trained for charge nurse.
• Willingness to become a preceptor after two years of nursing experience.
• Hospital experience preferred.
• Proficiency in English – verbal and written and computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Delivers patient care through the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Directs and coordinates nursing care for unit patients per clinical standards.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to ensure quality patient outcomes.
• Administers medications and therapies within safe nursing practice.
• Maintains accurate records and participates in performance improvement initiatives.
• Provides education and emotional support to patients and families.
