Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing required (BSN preferred).
• Current registered nurse’s license in the State of Texas required.
• ACLS certification within three (3) months of hire.
• NIHSS certification within six (6) months of hire.
• TNCC/TCAR within six (6) months of hire.
• Job requires cross training to like areas.
• Willingness to be trained for charge nurse.
• Willingness to become a preceptor after two years of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Delivers care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and ANA standards.
• Performs nursing process steps: assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, evaluation.
• Administers medications and therapies within safe nursing practice.
• Admits, discharges and transfers patients; documents and reports changes.
• Provides patient and family education and collaborates with the interprofessional team.
• Maintains accurate records and participates in unit based quality initiatives.
