Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current Texas RN license required.
• ACLS within 3 months of hire.
• NIHSS within 6 months of hire.
• TNCC/TCAR within 6 months of hire.
• Willingness to be trained for charge nurse.
• Willingness to become a preceptor after two years of nursing experience.
• Hospital experience preferred.
• Proficiency in English – verbal and written and computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Ensures care is delivered per Texas Nurse Practice Act and ANA standards.
• Performs nursing process: assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, evaluation.
• Implements physician orders safely.
• Assists with admitting, discharging and transferring patients.
• Transcribes and implements new physician orders.
• Maintains detailed and accurate nursing records.
• Provides patient/family education and emotional support.
• Participates in unit prioritization and rounds.
