Job summary

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is seeking a compassionate Mental Health Worker I for the Night shift at the Dr. Solomon Carter Fuller Mental Health Center.

The role provides direct client care, supports rehabilitative activities, accompanies clients to appointments, and contributes to a therapeutic environment. This 40-hour-per-week position runs 11pm–7am in Unit 4 East with specific days off and mandatory overtime.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of care, development, and treatment of mentally ill individuals.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to gather information through observation and questioning.
• Capacity to interact with people under physical or emotional stress.
• Ability to work in a team setting and in group situations.
• Capacity to lift and carry heavy objects or persons.
• Knowledge of safety practices in a mental health facility, including evacuations.

Responsibilities

• Completes admission information by interviewing and orienting clients.
• Contributes to effective interpersonal relations and promotes the facility image.
• Maintains a safe, therapeutic environment according to hospital policy.
• Intervenes in crisis situations to promote least-restrictive care.
• Participates in staff development programs to support role growth.
• Keeps a safe, clean environment while protecting client privacy.
