Job summary

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is seeking a Mental Health Worker I for the Pocasset Community Mental Health Center on the day shift, 24 hours per week. Under supervision, you will provide physical and emotional care to patients in inpatient settings, support rehabilitation, and maintain patient records.

The role includes accompanying patients to appointments and engaging them in activities to improve functioning. Shift is 7:00am to 3:30pm with overtime as required.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Capacity to perform basic mathematics.
• Proven ability to gather information through observing and questioning individuals.
• Talent for communicating effectively in oral expression, writing clearly and concisely.
• Skilled in interacting with people under emotional stress and maintaining calmness.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care daily and teach daily living skills to promote independence.
• Assist in implementing behavioral and rehabilitative programs and document observations.
• Perform housekeeping tasks and supervise related duties to keep areas clean.
• Maintain patient records (paper and electronic) per unit protocol.
• Attend patient reviews as part of the interdisciplinary team.
• Accompany patients to appointments and treatment areas with required paperwork.
• Encourage participation in leisure activities to enhance socialization.
