Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Marlborough, MA seeks a non-exempt behavioral health assistant for a 10:45 PM–7:15 AM night shift. The role involves direct patient care, safety checks, de‑escalation techniques, and collaboration with the Mental Health Team to support patients and families.

The position requires an associate degree or 2 years of behavioral health experience, BLS/Heart Saver within 1 month, and AVADE within 30 days. A signing bonus may be available and union involvement is noted.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 2 years' behavioral health experience required.
• AHA Basic Life Support or Heart Saver certification required within 1 month of employment.
• AVADE required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Serves on the Mental Health Team and supports patients, families, nurses and physicians.
• Communicates observations to R.N. and documents relevant data.
• Maintains patient safety with checks, rounds and de‑escalation strategies.
• Supports development of a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Leads or co-leads group activities and supervises recreational activities.
• Assists in medical emergencies as directed by R.N.
