Job summary

Commonwealth of Massachusetts' Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital is seeking a Seasonal Mental Health Worker I for the 3rd shift to provide direct care and assist with activities of daily living in an inpatient setting.

The short-term assignment runs November through January/February, will not exceed 90 consecutive days, with mandatory overtime and weekend availability required. Training and supervision are provided as part of the department's safety and care standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care and/or assists in activities of daily living (ADL) for persons served.
• Takes and reports vital signs as instructed.
• Accompanies persons served to appointments and treatment areas and assists staff as needed.
• Performs safety checks and observation per protocol, including 5, 15, 30-minute checks and 1:1 observation as directed.
• Assists in planning and implementing rehabilitative, behavioral, and recreational care.
• Discusses goals and needs of persons served in Treatment Team meetings.
• Encourages participation in leisure activities to enhance socialization.
• Maintains a safe therapeutic environment through observation and communication.
• Reviews and updates Individual Safety Plans as needed; informs supervisor of changes.
• Responds to emergencies and applies de-escalation techniques as trained.
• Documents care in medical records and daily reports when available.
