Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a part-time Medical Laboratory Technician for the 7pm–7am weekend nights at Providence/FSED locations. A Bachelor’s degree and MT/MLS eligibility are required, with MT/ASCP or MLS certification within one year of hire.

The position offers a 24-hour work week, sign-on bonus eligibility, and comprehensive benefits as part of Advocate Health’s Total Rewards program. You will ensure QA and testing standards are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required and MT/MLS eligibility.
• MT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) eligibility within one year of hire.
• Familiarity with quality assurance and regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency and follows testing procedures and policies by adherence to quality assurance guidelines for equipment and work area, documenting corrective action to any non-conforming event.
• Prepares reagents, maintains an adequate supply of materials for test procedures and manages inventory to effectively reduce departmental waste/expense.
• Exercises clinical judgment in assessing priorities while identifying, problem solving and offering solutions to test systems through the appropriate department channels.
• Assists with review and revision of procedures and documentation related to accreditation, adhering to all regulatory requirements.
• Maintains clear, real time communications shift-to-shift with leadership regarding issues and problems affecting patient care.
