Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform and monitor laboratory tests, ensure quality control, and support patient care across departments such as ED, ICU, and OR. This role requires MT/MLS certification within 1 year and a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or related field.

The position is full-time, third shift (10:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.) with rotating weekends and holidays, located at Advocate's Good Samaritan core lab in Downers Grove, IL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences is required.
• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Medical Technology or related field is required.
• Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification to be obtained within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests per established protocols.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and reports results as required.
• Performs and documents calibration, maintenance, and repair of instruments.
• Ensures quality control and quality assurance per protocol and takes corrective action when needed.
• Collects specimens from newborn to adult patients per protocol.
• Provides training and supervision to staff and students as assigned.
• Ensures compliance with accrediting standards and regulatory requirements.
