Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist/MLS for the Core Lab at Good Samaritan. The 3rd shift runs from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

with rotating weekends and holidays, and staff are responsible for a wide range of tests in transfusion services, chemistry, hematology, microbiology and more. Requires MT/MLS certification (ASCP/AMT) within 1 year or equivalent licensure. Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences and related field are required; no experience is necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• ASCP/AMT MT/MLS licensure eligibility within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests per established protocols.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and reports results per policy.
• Maintains calibration and repair of instruments and equipment.
• Performs quality control and QA activities to improve procedures.
• Collects specimens from newborn to adult patients following protocol.
• Supervises and trains staff and students as assigned.
• Ensures compliance with accrediting standards and CAP requirements.
