Job summary

Advocate Health in Park Ridge, IL is seeking a Lab Technologist for full-time third shift (11:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.), with rotating weekends and holidays. This role performs tests, ensures quality control, and supports critical care departments with rapid, accurate results.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree or NAACLS-approved Medical Technology program; no experience required. Excellent communication skills and ability to work across teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or NAACLS-approved Medical Technology program in a science-related field or equivalent education and training.
• No prior experience required.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform, evaluate and monitor laboratory tests per established protocols and report results.
• Calibrate, maintain and repair instruments; recognize malfunctions and implement corrections.
• Perform quality control and quality assurance and take corrective actions as needed.
• Label and collect specimens from newborns, pediatrics and adults according to protocol.
• Provide training and guidance to medical laboratory technicians, phlebotomists and staff.
• Improve lab procedures while ensuring compliance with accrediting standards.
• Perform proficiency testing and support various specialty testing areas.
• Provide timely, accurate results for critical care departments during high acuity events.
• Demonstrate care appropriate to the age of patients served.
