Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a qualified Medical Technologist to join the High Point Medical Center - Lab in a full-time role. The position operates on a 7 on/7 off schedule from 8pm to 6:30am, providing essential laboratory testing and blood component preparation for patient care.

Requirements include NAACLS MT program or equivalent, five years of clinical lab experience (or two years with MLT and MT/ASCP certification). Applicants should be prepared to supervise and train junior staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate on a professional level with physicians, nurses and other ancillary professional staff when discussing procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs and provides accurate laboratory test results on human patients.
• Prepares and issues blood components for patient transfusions.
• Assists in the collection and transport of patient samples from the clinics to laboratory sections.
• Handles hazardous materials in accordance with regulations to ensure safe working environment.
• Requisitions and maintain inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment as needed for laboratory operations.
• Supervises, trains, and reviews the work of students and lower-level technicians engaged in clinical laboratory work.
• Operates complex specialized laboratory instruments; instructs other personnel in the use and operations of these instruments.
• Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
