Job summary

VillageMD is seeking a dedicated laboratory assistant to support technologists in processing and organizing specimens, including labeling, preparing samples for analyzers and maintaining LIS records. The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and adherence to lab protocols.

The position requires English proficiency, High School completion, and a basic health sciences background; 1 year experience is preferred. Evening shift with rotating weekends and holidays, full-time, on-site in New Jersey.

Qualifications

• High School graduate required; health sciences degree preferred.
• English communication required, both written and spoken.
• 1 year related lab experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist technologists in labeling, organizing and maintaining specimens.
• Readies specimens for testing and ensures proper barcode labeling.
• Maintain lab storage, samples and storage organization.
• Register, retrieve and discard specimens as appropriate.
• Familiar with tube types, test requests and medical terminology.
• Perform pipetting and sample organization; troubleshoot specimen issues.
