Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated in Marlborough, MA seeks a Lab Assistant II on the night shift (Mon–Fri, 9:30 PM–6:00 AM) to perform Pre-Analytical duties with increasing responsibilities. You will support specimen processing and ensure accurate load building and labeling, contributing to test result quality.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, at least one year in a lab or production setting, basic Windows skills, and good typing abilities; training provided on site with growth

Qualifications

• One year experience in a laboratory environment or a production setting.
• Medical background required which includes medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
• Must have familiarity with personal computers, basic Windows-based software.

Responsibilities

• All responsibilities of the Pre-Analytical Assistant I and II; meets or exceeds productivity and quality standards for Pre-Analytical Assistant I.
• Solves more complex problems on a routine basis.
• Demonstrates a basic understanding of how Specimen Processing and Tech Ops impact testing departments and result quality.
• Identifies problems with specimen types vs test orders, missing information, improperly positioned bar code labels, etc. with regard to load building, aliquoting, and test add processing.
• Understands the complex relationship between test(s) ordered and specimens received with load building to correct departments.
• Completes all required written documentation such that it is understandable to others, legible and within the assigned time frame.
• Meets quality and production standards within 6 months of completing training.
• Learns additional functions within Tech Ops and Specimen Processing to ensure cross-functional support.
• Adheres to all Quest Diagnostics policies and procedures, including safety and compliance.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
• Demonstrates an understanding of compliance policies related to test ordering, which requires developing the ability to research test ordering information on translation tables, computer systems, and the directory of services.
• Andsorts,racks,picks up and delivers specimens to the laboratory,specimen storage,operates centrifuge,aliquots.
