Job summary

VillageMD is seeking a Laboratory Technician to assist technologists with labeling, organizing, and maintaining COVID, blood chemistry, histology and urine samples. You will provide technical assistance and day-to-day problem solving while following Laboratory safety guidelines.

The role includes specimen prep, barcode labeling, organizing storage, and handling various specimen types, with a focus on accuracy and reliability in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate/GED required.
• Health Sciences degree (AA/AS, BA/BS) preferred.
• 1 year related work experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, required.
• Moderate-High level computer skills.
• Standard Office Equipment and LIS experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for testing ensuring the lab's criteria is met.
• Readies specimens for analyzers with proper barcodes and requisitions.
• Organize and maintain lab storage, samples, and specimens.
• Register, retrieve, and discard specimens as appropriate.
• Familiar with tube types, test requests, and medical terminology.
• Sanitize equipment and workspace.
• Perform pipetting and organization of samples as needed.
• Troubleshoot problem specimens to find resolution.
• Ensure correct additives used and proper timing for testing.
• Centrifuge specimens delivered to the lab in a timely manner.
• Respond to duties within scope of ability.
