Job summary

Quest Diagnostics in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a Lab Associate I to support the laboratory operations in the Molecular department. The role runs Monday to Friday, 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, contributing to specimen prep, labeling, handling, and data entry under supervision.

This non-licensed position requires a high school diploma, some college preferred, and offers benefits and a potential annual bonus. Shift differential may apply for second and third shifts.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong typing skills and effective communication are important.
• Ability to use basic automation tools or processes as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and organizes samples for testing, e.g., racking, aliquoting, tube prep.
• Labels, handles, processes or prepares, and transports specimens.
• Identifies sample issues and helps resolve them.
• Prepares testing equipment and assists with preventive maintenance; notifies staff of problems.
• Supports licensed personnel in pre-analytic and post-analytic tasks where appropriate.
• Prepares reagents and controls and documents usage for approval.
• Maintains records of reagents and supplies with standard procedures.
• Manages inventory and stock rotation; restocks benches and equipment.
• Sorts and routes specimens using LIS and delivers to testing areas.
• Performs data entry and transfers results for review.
• Tallies workload data and prepares reports on request.
• Supports quality control procedures and prepares protocols/logs.
