Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated in San Juan Capistrano, CA is seeking a Lab Associate II for a night shift (Thu–Mon, 8:00 PM–4:30 AM). This role provides general laboratory support, prepares samples, handles labeling and storage, and maintains equipment and records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science or Chemistry preferred.
• HS diploma with 2–3 years of laboratory experience required.
• Experience handling PHI and LIS is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and organizes samples for testing, e.g., sample racking, aliquoting and tube preparation.
• Labeling, handling, processing or preparation, and transportation and storage of specimens.
• Identifies sample problems and assists in resolving them; demonstrates problem solving on service and production issues.
• Prepares testing equipment and assists with preventive maintenance; notifies staff of equipment problems.
• Assists licensed personnel or delegated supervisor in pre-analytic and post-analytic testing activities.
• Prepares reagents and controls using automated or fixed volume devices; submits documentation for approval to use.
• Maintains records of reagents or media using established procedures.
• Maintains inventory of consumables; orders and stores reagents; rotates stock.
• Sorts and accessioning of specimens into LIS; delivers to testing platform/department.
• Performs data entry or transcribes results for data reduction; prepares for review.
