Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Switchboard Operator to manage the telephone system, route calls, and promote a positive image of the health system. You will respond to emergencies, provide information to callers, and support hospital operations during the 10:30pm–7:00am shift, M-F, with possible holiday work.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, 1–2 years of computer experience, and prior customer service in healthcare. EPIC experience is beneficial.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma/GED required.
• 1–2 years computer experience and prior customer service experience; healthcare setting preferred.
• One year switchboard experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and appropriately route all incoming calls per guidelines.
• Activate procedures for alarms, codes and emergencies and notify appropriate personnel.
• Gather information and connect callers to the designated person to handle needs.
• Page on-call personnel and physicians as requested; distribute new department pagers.
• Maintain and update directory listings and assist in EPIC-related tasks.
