Job summary

Melrose/Wakefield Hospital is seeking a dedicated Security Officer to protect hospital assets and ensure safety for patients, visitors, and staff. The role involves conducting proactive patrols, responding to alarms and incidents, and providing escorts as needed.

The position is full-time with night shifts (11pm–7:30am) and requires strong communication, de-escalation skills, and the ability to work irregular hours.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid state issued driver’s license required.
• IAHSS Basic certification as a Healthcare Security Officer within 1 year of hire (or by 9/1/2025 for incumbents).

Responsibilities

• Conduct internal and external patrols of facilities and grounds.
• Respond to routine and emergency calls for service and alarms.
• Provide escorts to patients, visitors, staff and others.
• Identify safety hazards and take corrective action where possible.
• Maintain hospital ID badge visibility and restrict access to unauthorized individuals.
• Assist with emergencies and disasters as directed by supervisors.
