Job summary

Valmont is seeking a Backwelder for 3rd shift nights in Brenham, TX. The role requires GMAW welding certification, ability to read drawings, and experience in a manufacturing environment.

You will tack weld components, position shafts, and use a plasma torch to cut steel, with safety protocols in place. The position includes shift differentials and potential discretionary bonuses, with opportunities for step pay increases at 90 days, 1 year, and 2 years.

Qualifications

• 6 months welding experience in manufacturing or fabrication
• Must pass GMAW rotational weld test and maintain certification
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and locate parts

Responsibilities

• Tack weld components to form pole assembly for structural welds
• Position shafts and load with crane for assembly
• Read drawings to determine parts and locations of holes
• Use plasma torch to cut steel and fit holes in shafts
• Measure distances with tape and calipers and verify tolerances
• Operate grinders and drills to finalize assemblies
• Follow safety guidelines and PPE requirements
