Job summary

Valmont Industries in Brenham, TX is hiring a Backwelder able to perform GMAW welding and fit-up tasks under a Production Supervisor. Candidates must read drawings, use measurement tools, and operate related equipment on a standard first-shift schedule.

Starting pay is $24.47 per hour with potential step increases and annual discretionary bonus. Essential duties include welding small components, aligning parts, using cranes, cutting with plasma, and ensuring quality welds.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write English.
• Ability to use common manufacturing math.
• 6 Months of welding experience or completed welding training program.
• Must pass GMAW rotational weld test and maintain certification.
• Ability to produce good welds and read drawings showing hole locations.
• Follow Valmont safety guidelines and PPE/LOTO requirements.

Responsibilities

• Welds with GMAW to assemble pole components.
• Read drawings to determine parts and locations.
• Position shafts and use crane to move components.
• Cut steel with plasma torch and use jigs for holes.
• Measure with tape, levels, and squares; convert measurements.
• Operate grinders and drills as needed.
• Work in confined spaces along the pole assembly line.
