Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. in Brenham, TX is seeking a Backwelder for the 3rd shift to weld and assemble pole components. The role requires reading drawings, performing fit-up tasks, and using a plasma torch for cutting.

You will work on a pole assembly line under the direction of the Production Supervisor. Starting hourly pay is $24.47 with a $1.00 shift differential on 2nd and 3rd shifts, and there is potential for step pay increases and an annual discretionary bonus.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write English.
• Ability to use common manufacturing math.
• 6 months of welding experience in manufacturing/fabrication or completion of welding program.
• Must pass GMAW rotational weld test and maintain certification.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings.
• Adherence to Valmont safety guidelines and PPE/LOTO.

Responsibilities

• Tack welds small components to round shafts to form pole assemblies.
• Position shafts manually; operate cranes for lifting components.
• Read drawings to determine parts and locations for assembly.
• Use plasma torch for cutting steel and align holes per drawings.
• Measure with tapes, levels, squares; convert fractions and decimals.
• Work in confined areas along the pole assembly line as needed.
• Operate grinders and drills to assist assembly.
• Other duties as assigned.
