Job summary

Valmont Industries in Brenham, TX seeks a Fitter Welder 11 to assemble pole components using GMAW, FCAW, and SAW under supervision, following drawings and codes.

The role requires welding, cutting, measuring, crane operations, and adherence to LEAN and safety standards in a fast-paced shop. Starting pay is $28.72–$29.95 per hour on a 3rd shift (Mon–Thu, 9PM–7AM) with potential overtime and step pay increases.

Qualifications

• Must read and write English.
• 3-5 years of experience fitting in manufacturing or fabrication.
• 3 years experience reading blueprints.
• 3 years experience in manufacturing or fabrication.
• Must pass FCAW, GMAW, and SAW weld tests and maintain certification.
• Ability to operate overhead cranes; prior experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Use GMAW to tack weld components to shafts for pole assemblies.
• Use SAW for structural welds as per drawings and codes.
• Read drawings to determine parts needed and assemble poles.
• Position shafts using a turner and assist with base plates, brackets, and hand holes.
• Operate plasma torch and use jigs for hole cutting.
• Follow LEAN practices and maintain a clean, organized workplace.
• Maintain PPE and safety standards; recognize training needs.
