Job summary

Valmont Industries in Brenham, TX is seeking a Backwelder certified in GMAW to assemble pole components. The role requires reading drawings, using a plasma torch, and operating grinders and drills on the pole assembly line.

The starting pay rate is $24.47 per hour with a 4th shift (Fri-Sun, 6:00 AM–6:00 PM). Benefits include healthcare, 401k, PTO, and more. Additional hours and step increases available based on performance.

Qualifications

• Must read and write English.
• Ability to use common manufacturing math.
• 6 months welding experience in manufacturing/fabrication.
• Must pass GMAW rotational weld test and maintain certification.
• Ability to produce good welds.
• Ability to read & interpret drawings showing locations/orientations of holes.
• Knowledge of safe working practices and PPE/LOTO.
• Follow Valmont safety guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Use GMAW to tack weld small components to round shafts for pole assemblies.
• Manually position shafts for assembly.
• Use crane to lift components.
• Read and interpret drawings to determine parts needed.
• Locate and gather parts from storeroom as staged.
• Read drawings to ensure proper attachment locations.
• Use plasma torch to cut steel.
• Use jigs for cutting holes in shafts.
• Wear protective eye protection.
• Measure distances with tape, levels, squares, and angles.
• Move around poles during assembly.
• Operate grinders, buffers, drills to assist assembly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
