Job summary

Valmont is hiring a Backwelder in Brenham, TX. Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Backwelder must be certified in GMAW welding and perform fit-up tasks. The role requires reading drawings and using measuring tools to assemble pole components.

The starting pay rate is $24.47 per hour for a 4th shift (Fri-Sun, 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM) with paid overtime and opportunities for step increases and annual bonus eligibility.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write English.
• Ability to use common manufacturing math.
• 6 Months of welding experience or completion of a welding-focused Technical Training Program.
• Must pass GMAW rotational weld test and maintain certification.
• Ability to produce good welds and read drawings.

Responsibilities

• Use GMAW to tack weld components for pole assemblies.
• Position shafts and use a crane to lift components up to 50 pounds.
• Read drawings to identify parts and their locations.
• Use plasma torch to cut steel and jigs for cutting holes.
• Measure distances and angles with tape, levels, squares, and angle finders.
• Work in confined areas along the pole assembly line as needed.
