Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, and move freight within a multimodal terminal, warehouse, or dock environment. You will assist with mentoring others and resolving on-floor issues as a seasoned team member, while maintaining documentation accuracy and safety.

The compensation is $20.58 per hour with a Monday–Friday schedule from 6:00 PM to 2:30 AM. This role requires forklift certification (or the ability to obtain) and 3+ years of dock/warehouse

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Certification: Valid forklift certification/licensure (or ability to obtain before operating equipment).
• Experience: 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to recognize numbers, labels, barcodes, and freight markings accurately.
• Technology: Willingness and ability to learn handheld scanners and freight-tracking devices.
• Equipment: Safe operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, and related MHE with training.
• Attendance: Regular and predictable attendance.
• Physical: Able to lift up to 50–75 lbs with/without assistance.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and trailers.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues to supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized dock environment.
• Learn equipment operation, safety protocols, and job procedures.
