Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Feed Mill Operator to tend, operate, and oversee all operator areas within the mill to assure quality, productivity and safety. Responsibilities include following SOPs, operating equipment, and maintaining accurate production records.

The role requires reading English, basic computer skills, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and willingness to work nights/weekends. Training includes ISO22000 and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read and understand safety rules and procedures.
• Ability to read and speak English.
• Must be able to work 50 hour weeks including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Follow standard operating instructions and procedures across all operator areas.
• Operate equipment and tools in all mill areas (including forklift).
• Prepare and maintain shift activity and production reports.
• Regulate flow of materials to meet product specifications.
• Perform daily feed and ingredient inventory tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness and support coworkers in other areas.
• Protect safety of employees and company assets.
• Acquire and maintain required certifications (weigh master, forklift).
• Maintain stock at batching areas and receiving; ensure compliance with environmental policies.
• Adhere to IPS/EMS policies and report environmental issues.
• Understand ISO22000 Feed Safety requirements and support continuous improvement.
