The position emphasizes staff training, safety, and consistent attendance, with a focus on delivering Meijer’s Friendly Initiative in daily operations and team meetings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in store areas (meat, bakery, produce, deli).
• Strong communication and direction for teammates.
• Conflict resolution and root-cause problem solving.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information.
• Ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Proven mentoring of team members.
• Certification completion as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Staffing, selection, and hiring to meet needs.
• Promote career development and succession planning.
• Document disciplinary actions and guide possible discharges.
• Responsible for P&L, sales, and shrink targets for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast, and friendly service for customers.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings.
• Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals.
• Ensure thorough training of staff and completion of required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store engaging with customers and teammates.
• Promote a safe work environment and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
