Job summary

Meijer is seeking a Store Manager to lead and inspire teams across departments, ensuring outstanding customer service and strong store performance. You will recruit, train, and coach staff while upholding Meijer standards and safety.

In this role you will drive sales, manage staffing plans, and mentor team members toward advancement, applying continuous improvement and a commitment to the Meijer Friendly Initiative.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store (e.g., meat, bakery, produce, deli).
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clear direction to team members.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts by addressing root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Experience analyzing financial and statistical information to inform decisions and teach suggestive selling.
• Proven ability to mentor team members including SDITs and hourly staff.
• Successful completion of required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Serve as mentor and coach for all team members.
• Implement strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales.
• Maintain store appearance with focus on prime shopping hours and product presentation.
• Ensure staffing, selection and hiring to meet needs.
• Promote succession planning and career development for team members.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and manage terminations as needed.
• Oversee P&L, sales goals and shrink controls for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings.
