Job summary

Cooper Norcross Health's Critical Care Tech role on the Kelemen 8 medical-surgical unit supports RNs and the care team with activities of daily living, vital signs, and patient safety. The unit handles telemetry and has multidisciplinary rounds.

The position requires 0-2 years experience, High School/GED, PCT training and active PCT Certification, BLS, CPCT-A, and completion of phlebotomy/EKG competency during orientation.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• Successful completion of Patient Care Technician training and have an active Patient Care Technician Certification required.
• AHA Basic Life Support certification required; CPCT-A certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, hygiene, mobility, transport) and follow standard precautions.
• Perform phlebotomy, vital signs, point of care testing, EKGs, Foley catheter care as directed by RN.
• Identify and communicate changes in patient status to RN and respond appropriately, maintaining safe patient practices.
• Reinforce education for patients and families regarding care needs and safety.
• Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives, performance improvement activities, and assist in orienting new hires.
• Complete annual hospital and unit-specific competencies by the required due date.
• Consistently adhere to safety protocols and quality standards to ensure a safe environment and high-quality patient care.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
• Capacity to identify and communicate changes in patient status.
