Job summary

NYC Criminal Justice Agency (CJA) is seeking a Night Shift Court Representative for Queens Criminal Court. You will welcome participants, explain eligibility, and provide information on the Supervised Release program during night arraignments.

Work 5pm–1am Wed-Sun, in person, collaborating with court staff, social workers, and the Case Management team to ensure accurate intake, documentation, and smooth transitions for participants reentering the community.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in the criminal legal system or direct service delivery.
• Ability to obtain OCA Secure Pass for court access.
• Strong understanding of NYS bail reform and court processes.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed principles and ability to support distressed individuals.
• Experience working with justice-involved or unhoused individuals with behavioral health needs.
• Excellent communication; able to stay calm under pressure.
• Detail-oriented and accurate in documentation.
• Computer proficiency with databases and adapting to technology; MS Teams & Outlook; video tech for virtual appearances.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Screen court calendars, identify prospective clients including high-risk participants.
• Appear at night arraignments to provide program information and answer questions.
• Maintain relationships with defense attorneys, prosecutors, judges, and court staff.
• Collect and organize court documents for case records.
• Orient new participants after arraignment with a trauma-informed approach.
• Conduct orientation intakes, flag risk factors and immediate needs.
• Distribute metro-cards and/or cell phones and document processes.
• Coordinate with case management and daytime teams for seamless information sharing.
• Ensure accurate database documentation of demographics, conditions and next steps.
• Track compliance and provide updates to courts at arraignment.
• Attend subsequent court dates to report on compliance and changes.
• Participate in team meetings and trainings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
