Job summary

Torrey Holistics is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support a Glendale, AZ plant on a 2-2-3 night schedule (6:00 PM–6:00 AM). You will be the on-shift controls expert, diagnosing PLC/HMI issues, and leading automation projects to improve safety, quality, and throughput.

The role requires an associate degree in a related field and 4+ years in high-speed manufacturing controls, with strong PLC/HMI skills and the ability to mentor technicians.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering technology or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• At least four years of industrial automation or controls experience in high-speed manufacturing.
• Strong PLC troubleshooting and programming capabilities.
• Experience troubleshooting automated production, conveyor, and packaging equipment.
• Knowledge of HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, instrumentation, networks, and electrical control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Willingness to work a 2-2-3 night schedule from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary on-shift controls and automation expert.
• Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 troubleshooting for automated production, processing, and packaging equipment.
• Diagnose PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, instrumentation, and network issues.
• Develop and execute controls projects to improve safety, quality, reliability, and throughput.
• Support high-speed beverage processing, filling, canning, conveying, and packaging systems.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams on improvements.
• Maintain PLC/HMI backups, drawings, and change records.
• Assist with equipment commissioning and system integration projects.
