Job summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long term care. Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned resident under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).

Knowledge of infection prevention and control policies and PPE use is required; the NA works as part of the nursing team and supports residents’ physical and psychosocial needs throughout the shift.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 16.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• CNA certification with the State Board of Nursing required or in process of obtaining certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily living activities and basic health care needs.
• Assist with transferring, repositioning, and walking using safe techniques.
• Assist with meals, hydration, and dining experience for residents.
• Document resident interactions and report changes to the charge nurse.
