Job summary

AdventHealth Tampa is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. The role focuses on pre- and post-analytical lab activities, specimen processing, and delivering accurate test results across age groups in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will work under safety protocols, support education of clinical staff, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives while maintaining adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Technical staff with lab testing knowledge and procedures.
• Adheres to Corporate Compliance Plan and regulator rules; protects patient information.
• Ability to work independently and manage changing priorities.
• Keeps equipment records and performs quality assessments.
• Capable of educating and training new staff in medical laboratory settings.
• Clear communication in English with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficient with basic computer tools and lab information systems.

Responsibilities

• Follows safety policies including PPE use and hazardous waste handling.
• Participates in performance improvement activities.
• Performs pre-analytical activities: equipment checks, inventory, specimen collection, processing.
• Supports education for clinical staff and coaches technicians.
• Reports results and provides technical support for all age groups.
• Assists with new laboratory techniques and data collection for special projects.
• Other duties as assigned.
