Job summary

VOA Northern California & Northern Nevada is seeking an Overnight Shelter Supervisor for the Nevada Cares Campus in Reno. You will lead shelter operations during the night shift, ensuring safe, low-barrier housing and supportive interactions with participants and staff.

The role requires supervising staff, coordinating safety drills, and maintaining records while collaborating with leadership to meet program objectives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred.
• Experience with homeless populations and supervision/scheduling is preferred.
• CPR and First Aid training within 90 days of employment and renewed as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, housing-focused programming for shelter participants.
• Train, develop, and supervise shelter staff.
• Ensure program safety, cleanliness, and inventory control.
• Maintain accurate bed rosters and incident reporting.
• Monitor compliance with policies and safety procedures.
• Coordinate meals and crisis management as needed.
