Job summary

CareerNerds, LLC is seeking a Roadway / Utility Superintendent for night work in Winston-Salem, NC. You will lead night shift roadway and underground utility crews on highway and utility projects, with emphasis on NCDOT work and strict safety practices.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in heavy civil roadway/utility supervision, DOT night-work experience, and the ability to read plans and manage traffic control. Relocation to the Triad area is welcome and full benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of heavy civil roadway and/or underground utility experience at the superintendent or senior foreman level.
• Proven night work experience on DOT roadway or utility projects.
• Knowledge of grading, storm drainage, water and sewer installation, and paving sequencing.
• Solid understanding of work zone traffic control.
• Able to read plans and specs and keep accurate quantities.
• Willing to work a heavy night schedule.
• Valid driver's license.
• NCDOT project experience is a plus.
• OSHA 30 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Run night shift field operations on roadway and utility projects
• Lead roadway, grading and underground utility crews and their foremen
• Schedule and coordinate subcontractors, equipment and material deliveries
• Plan the work and hold the project schedule shift to shift
• Own jobsite safety, toolbox talks and OSHA compliance on every shift
• Set up and manage traffic control and lane closures inside approved night work windows
• Work directly with NCDOT inspectors and project engineers
• Track installed quantities and daily production
• Complete daily reports, crew time and field documentation
• Coordinate handoffs with the project manager and day side of the job
