Job summary

Highland Hospital in Charleston, West Virginia, seeks an RN for night shifts in acute care. The role includes supervising LPNs/CNAs, developing care plans, assessing patients, and ensuring safe medication administration in a behavioral health setting.

Required: RN licensure; BSN or diploma from an approved school; CPR and de-escalation training preferred. Onsite position with a focus on comprehensive patient care and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing.
• One or more years’ nursing experience within the clinical area of service provided by the facility preferred.
• Experience in behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery environment preferred.
• Knowledge of psychotropic medications and medication administration procedures.
• Ability to apply nursing standards and practice within an acute psychiatric setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and educate patients and families.
• Assess patient status on an ongoing basis and communicate findings to providers.
• Transcribe and review provider orders and document appropriately.
• Administer medications per orders using at least two patient identifiers.
• Communicate hand-off reports to oncoming staff and supervisors.
