Job summary

Highland Hospital in Charleston, WV is seeking a Registered Nurse for night shift in Acute care with a focus on behavioral health. You will supervise care provided by LPNs, CNAs and other staff on the unit and shift, and develop individual care plans for each patient.

Responsibilities include assessing patients, documenting care, administering medications, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing.
• One or more years’ nursing experience within the clinical area.
• Experience in behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery environment preferred.
• Knowledge of psychotropic medications and medication administration procedures.
• Ability to apply nursing standards and practice in acute psychiatric settings.

Responsibilities

• Provides and coordinates care by assessing needs and develops nursing care plans.
• Maintains medical records and educates patients and families about health conditions.
• Assesses patient status and communicates findings to providers.
• Administers medications with patient identification.
• Documents and reports changes in condition to supervisors or physicians.
• Ensures thorough hand-off reports to oncoming staff.
