Job summary

Highland Hospital in Charleston, West Virginia seeks an LPN for night shifts in an acute psychiatric unit. You will provide direct patient care under RN supervision, monitor vital signs, administer medications, and document patient progress in accordance with hospital policies.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, support patient and family teaching, and ensure safety and quality care. A current LPN license and psychiatric nursing understanding are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved LPN program.
• 1+ years of nursing experience in the relevant clinical area preferred.
• Knowledge of psychotropic meds and medication administration procedures.
• Ability to apply nursing standards in an acute psychiatric setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to an assigned patient group under RN supervision.
• Ensure patient safety and follow unit and hospital policies.
• Assist in health and psychiatric teaching for patient and family.
• Serve as a role model for patients and peers.
• Collaborate in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care plans.
• Communicate with medical staff and document orders accurately.
• Record patient symptoms and progress clearly and concisely.
• Perform vital signs, ECGs, phlebotomy/labs, and glucose monitoring as needed.
• Provide coverage in emergency services when required.
