Job summary

Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide advanced cardiopulmonary care under physician orders. This role supports the CRT staff and may lead special clinical projects as directed by leadership.

The position requires NBRC-approved RT education, RRT credential, state licensure, and BLS; additional PALS/ACLS/NRP certifications may be needed. On-site with potential on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a NBRC approved Respiratory Therapist program from an accredited institution.
• Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT).
• Current license as Registered Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers is required.
• Specific certifications as required (i.e. PALS, ACLS, NRP) is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic testing procedures according to protocol.
• Obtains arterial gases and oversees equipment operation for optimal patient care.
• Initiates Respiratory Protocol and interventions based on assessments.
• Administers medications safely and evaluates response, communicating progress to staff and physicians.
• Maintains patient-condition awareness and communicates findings to physicians and nurses; educates patients and families.
• Completes documentation per departmental standards; monitors supplies and informs when low or broken.
• Participates in quality and safety initiatives and in department meetings with ideas for improvement.
• Promotes Respiratory Care, mentors staff, and contributes to standards of care.
• May float to other departments as needed and may be placed on-call.
