LCMC Health in New Orleans is seeking a phlebotomy technician to join the Night shift in our busy lab. You will perform venipuncture and specimen handling following SOPs, ensuring accurate patient ID and labeling.

You will manage workload, inventory, and prepare specimens for transport, while delivering compassionate customer service and adhering to safety policies. This role supports University Medical Center and the broader Louisiana community.

Qualifications

• Performs venipuncture and skin puncture in all patient age groups per department SOP.
• Uses two patient identifiers for patient identification and labeling.
• Transcribes orders from outside providers as necessary.
• Responds to applicable code teams as needed.
• Adheres to universal precautions and organizational policies.

Responsabilités

• Monitors collection lists and documents status of outstanding collections.
• Monitors expected list for pending lab tests.
• Answers phone calls with appropriate customer service.
• Adheres to SOP in using handheld devices for specimen collection.
• Ensures specimen collection supplies are available and not expired.
• Delivers specimens to the appropriate Lab Section.
• Notifies leadership when supplies fall below thresholds or expire soon.
• Stocks phlebotomy carts and maintains inventory for next shift.
• Communicates complaints or problems to department supervisor.
