Job summary

LCMC Health in New Orleans, LA seeks a Phlebotomist to join our lab team. You will perform venipuncture and skin puncture, using handheld collection devices, while maintaining accurate documentation and timely specimen transport to the Lab.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, with either 2 years of related experience or a phlebotomist certification, and current BLS certification. Nights shifts are available at our Louisiana facility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED OR 2 years of applicable experience OR Phlebotomist certification.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and skin puncture per standard procedures.
• Use handheld devices for specimen collection.
• Monitor collection list and document status of outstanding collections.
• Ensure STAT specimens are delivered within 15 minutes of collection.
• Update specimens with correct data and route to the appropriate Lab Section.
• Communicate complaints or problems to department supervisor.
• Contribute to quality assurance documentation and reports.
