Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our Louisiana laboratories. The role supports venipuncture, specimen collection, and processing to aid diagnosis and treatment, with emphasis on accuracy and timely handling of specimens.

You will follow SOPs, maintain thorough documentation, and collaborate with clinical staff to ensure quality patient care. Variable hours, on-site at East Jefferson General Hospital network.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required, or 2 years of related work experience.
• Phlebotomist certification considered in lieu of minimum qualifications.
• Knowledge of standard phlebotomy techniques and blood handling.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and skin puncture per SOP.
• Adheres to SOP for specimen collection with handheld devices.
• Monitors collection list and documents status of outstanding collections.
• Ensures STAT specimens delivered to the Lab within 15 minutes.
• Updates specimens with correct collect/receive data and times.
• Delivers specimens to the appropriate Lab Section promptly.
• Communicates complaints to supervisor; collects QA data; maintains documentation.
• Monitors and clears collection pending reports regularly.
