Job summary

Cincinnati Children’s is seeking a part-time patient care assistant to support nursing staff with daily care tasks for assigned patients in a night shift environment. Under RN supervision, you will help with activities of daily living, observations, and patient transport as needed.

The role emphasizes punctual documentation, teamwork, and adherence to infection control and safety procedures for pediatric patients. Training is provided, including CPR and internal onboarding.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional clinical rotation from ACEN/CCNE/NLN CNEA accredited program OR OH STNA registry/Ohio CNA reciprocity OR Ohio/National EMS Registry OR 1 year patient care experience in last 3 years OR completion of the organization’s Patient Care Assistant training program after hire.
• CPR training is required and certification maintained; internal training offered periodically based on business need.

Responsibilities

• Plan of Care - Provide approved care of assigned patients and assist in implementation of interventions under supervision of RN.
• Communication - Demonstrates Cincinnati Children’s CARES behaviors; report changes in patient condition; complete timely documentation; seek guidance as needed.
• Environment - Maintain safe, organized, and efficient environment; comply with infection control policies; follow safety procedures for children’s ages and development.
• Administrative Support - Respond to alarms; answer phones per etiquette; assemble charts, order supplies; assist in orientation and training of new staff.
