Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Part-Time Night shift Patient Care Technician (PCA) to provide compassionate bedside care and assist with activities of daily living. You will support the bedside RN by taking vital signs, assisting with meals, mobility, baths, and linen changes, while keeping patients safe and comfortable.

Ideal candidates demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, basic math ability, and the resilience to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients.
• Ability to read and perform basic math.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks, assist with meal ordering, and encourage walking.
• Assist with baths and provide clean linens and gowns.
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to the RN or charge nurse.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts and alarms and stay within arm's reach when moving.
