Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I for the Med/Surg unit in Marlborough, MA. The role is non-exempt, on-site, part-time (32 hours) with a night shift from 2245 to 0715. The candidate will assist nurses, provide patient care, and support safety and comfort of patients under licensed supervision.

Required is a high school diploma or GED and BLS within 30 days. Strong English communication, basic computer skills, and knowledge of medical terminology are essential.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED required.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days as a condition of employment.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Basic computer skills and medical terminology knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN regarding patient observations.
• Maintain constant observation for high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse.
• Assist with daily living activities and safe patient handling.
• Support in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients using proper safety techniques.
• Follow departmental policies and participate in safety and quality improvement efforts.
