Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area and assist with loading/unloading to trailers. You will operate material handling equipment, verify documentation, secure freight, and support customers with freight needs.

The role requires basic math, good communication, and the ability to lift heavy loads. This is a physically demanding on-site position with variable hours and potential overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience in warehousing or freight handling and/or forklift operations preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to lift/carry hand freight and open trailer doors regularly.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck as required.
• Verify freight documentation matches description (type, weight, hazardous materials).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Follow all laws, regulations, and company procedures.
