Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking personnel to transport freight across dock areas and assist with loading and documentation. The role requires operating forklifts and hand trucks, verifying freight paperwork, and securing loads inside trailers.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years old. Prior warehouse or freight handling experience is preferred, with physical tasks up to heavy lifting required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience in warehousing, freight handling or forklift operations preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry freight weighing up to 100 pounds and open trailer doors requiring ~75 pounds lift.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat and push/pull freight.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Perform freight handling using forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description (e.g. type, weight, hazardous materials).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations and company policies/procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
