Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, and move freight through a busy dock or warehouse environment. You will use sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE with strict adherence to safety and documentation standards.

You must have a valid forklift certification, a GED or high school diploma preferred, and at least 3 years of dock experience. The role offers a standard Monday–Friday 4 PM–midnight schedule and hourly pay between $19 and $20.

Qualifications

• Diploma or GED preferred; not required.
• Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Must communicate in English; understand safety instructions and freight documentation.
• Able to recognize numbers/barcodes and perform basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight with forklifts and other MHE per procedures.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety rules.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy.
• Identify damaged freight and report safety or equipment issues.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and comply with PPE.
• Work schedule includes nights, weekends, holidays, overtime as needed.
• Mentor/assist with onboarding of new Material Handlers when needed.
