Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, and move freight within a multimodal terminal, warehouse, or dock environment.

You will operate various MHE, scan and document cargo, and assist with mentoring newer Material Handlers to maintain productivity and freight integrity. Qualifications

• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure (or ability to obtain before operating equipment).
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Basic arithmetic to verify freight counts, quantities, and weights.
• Willingness to learn and use handheld scanners and freight-tracking devices.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors, trailers, and designated areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading per procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues promptly.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and follow safety policies.
• Work schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Train, mentor, and support development of other Material Handlers.
